YQ 300 changes course

Jumble Ice again a factor in Yukon Quest qualifier

Organizers of the YQ 300 have had to re-route the dog sled race due to jumble ice on the Yukon River in Alaska.
Mushers will race to Circle, before coming back down to Central, due to the fragmented sections of ice at the turnaround point, 40 miles upriver.
Organizers say travelling over the jumble sections twice is not in the best interest of the dogs or the mushers.
The overall distance of the Yukon Quest qualifying race will remain the same.
Earlier this week, organizers had to move the starting point of the main Yukon Quest race in Fairbanks due to the same problem of jumble ice.
