Racers from as far away as Europe, New Zealand, and South Africa will be part of the 20th edition of the 715 kilometre race between Whitehorse and Dawson City.
The 20th Yukon River Quest between Whitehorse and Dawson City hits the water Wednesday.
A record 115 teams are entered, with 263 paddlers from 15 countries beginning the race at Rotary Park at noon.
It will take three or four days to paddle the 715 kilometres to Dawson, in canoes, and kayaks. with most arriving on Saturday.
There are even eight people taking to the river in stand up paddle boards.
Over 200 volunteers are helping with the race at the various checkpoints along the way.
There are two mandatory 10 hour rest stops.
Organizers say there's a record purse up for grabs of just under $49,000.
