Rick Hansen has a number of events planned for the Yukon capital and surrounding area.
Whitehorse-area businesses are getting inspired over the next few days, as the Chamber of Commerce holds their Business Connects Conference and Trade Show, along with awards banquet.
Wednesday's banquet (6:30 p.m. at the Kwanlin Dun Cultural Centre) will not only honour Whitehorse's best businesses, but feature a keynote speech from Man in Motion Rick Hansen.
Hansen tells the RUSH his speech will focus on removing barriers for people with disabilities in the territory.
"Just to say a huge thanks, and congratulations for the work that's being done, but also setting the bar higher, and encouraging government, and private sector plus the non-profit community to continue to look for solutions that will help us get there faster."
Hansen says knocking down barriers for those with a disability has been a huge journey since his Man in Motion World Tour.
"When I started my Man in Motion tour, I was pretty young, and naive, and I thought we could get there a lot faster." Hansen said.
"Recognizing that big social change takes time, sometimes decades, and sometimes generations. What we need to do is celebrate success, and inspire people to take the bar higher."
Hansen says he's excited to spend a few days north of 60, where he will also speak to the Atlin Board of Trade, and take part in Vanier Catholic Secondary School's Ridge Run on Friday.
