Gary Bailie is being recognized for his efforts in putting together the Blue Feather Festival.
A recognized leader in Whitehorse with a passion for supporting youth and organizing the Blue Feather Music Festival has been recognized by Yukon's Commissioner.
As his last act in office Wednesday, Doug Phillips awarded Gary Bailie with the Governor General's Meritorious Service Award for his work in the community.
Bailie says it's a real honour to get the award but he's also had a lot of support.
Phillips says Bailie's work has brought communities together and provides youth with opportunities to learn new skills and find their place.
Phillips tenure in office comes to an end after seven years as Yukon's Commissioner.
