The Whitehorse Firefighters Charitable Society is raising funds for Muscular Dystrophy Canada by camping in a tent on the 3rd and main rooftop.

Firefighter Nicholas O'Carroll says only three firefighters will be camping out on the roof during their stay.

"They stay in the tent, and they'll come down in the day to help solicit funds, but for the most part, they're up here staying snuggly, cozy and warm," said O'Carroll.

He added that since this is their first year doing the camp, they are aiming to raise only two thousand dollars.

O'Carroll says the cold weather doesn't bother the firefighters, because they know why they're camping.

"This was started in the winter time and there are some other places that do it in warmer, more reasonable weather, but we wanted to do the real thing. our muscular dystrophy representative was pretty excited that we were going to give it a shot in February."

The public response has been incredibly supportive says O'Carroll, and they hope to raise more money in future years, calling their two-thousand dollar goal a reasonable one.
