The town will celebrate major upgrades to the facility this weekend.
Faro residents celebrate the completion of phase one of their arena upgrades this weekend.
Town CAO Ian Dunlop says the first part of the over $1 million project is ready for public use, and calls it 'almost like a brand-new facility.'
Dunlop says phase two renovations which include a roof replacement, and insulation over the ice surface will take place starting in May.
The upgrades also include a new Zamboni, which is now in use in the arena.
These are the first major renovations to the building since it was constructed in the 1970's.
A public skate and pick-up hockey will be held starting Saturday afternoon before full programming resumes next week.
Dunlop says it was hoped the renovations would have been completed by the end of November, but cold weather delayed the project.
