No new cases of COVID-19 in Yukon were announced today.

Yukon's COVID-19 vaccine efforts are well underway.

Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Brendan Hanley provided an update on the vaccine rollout this afternoon.

He says front-line health care workers in the territory are beginning to receive their first doses of the Moderna Vaccine, as long-term care residents are continuing to be inoculated as well.

"The first trip into Dawson was today, to cover McDonald lodge and front line health workers there. Today, Whitehorse General Hospital is busy vaccinating their front-line staff, with a fantastic uptake"

Premier Sandy Silver says a new shipment of vaccines will arrive in the coming days.

"We know that our next shipment of vaccines will arrive this week. This will be another allotment of 7200 vaccines. This new shipment will help us to keep moving forward with our immunization plans."

No new cases of COVID-19 were announced in Yukon today, with the active case count holding at six.

Dr. Hanley says all young people who were instructed to self-isolate because of a possible exposure over the holidays have been allowed to return to school.

Yukon has confirmed 70 total cases of COVID-19 since March of 2020.
