Event Summary

Indigenous Book Club is a new adult program and a co-production of Whitehorse Public Library and the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre. This free program invites indigenous and non-indigenous participants to read works by indigenous authors and then come together over food to discuss themes and ideas. A stew and bannock supper will be served, courtesy of the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre.

Darrel J. McLeod is Cree from Treaty 8 First Nation of Alberta. He is the author of the memoir Mamaskatch: A Cree Coming of Age (Douglas & McIntyre), winner of the 2018 Governor General’s Literary Award for Non-Fiction, and finalist for the RBC Charles Taylor Prize.

Please call 667-5239 or come into the library to reserve your copy of the book and register for the event. A limited number of books are available for this program on a first come, first served basis. Let us know if you require an alternate format (audio, eBook, or other format) and we will do our very best to accommodate your needs. It is not necessary to read the book in order to attend the discussion. Registration is necessary and space limited.
